Me & my holographic stickers
Hello! And welcome to part one of my holographic sticker designs! Getting right to it! So I use a fairly simple method with these decals! In which I apply a htv holographic vinyl to an adhesive vinyl base. I use an outdoor rated base layer so they are super weather tolerant and don’t fade or crack. I’ve had mine on my car in the Australian heat for a good couple of years now, and they still look good as new!
The process is simple enough, so when designing in your cutting studio, or vector application. You’ll want a solid enclosed base layer that is slightly larger than your design. Your design should have the same outer shape as your base layer, and not be too intricate or transfers can get tricky. (this simplicity thing is a struggle for me lol)
I’ve done some fairly delicate designs, so if there’s a will, there’s a way. And the final result is pretty damn good. Essentially once you’ve cut both layers, you’ll want to weed the holo htv layer. Then place it over the top of the adhesive base layer, and pop that into your heat press for a few seconds. Thats it! Depending on how intricate your holo layer is, you may want to use some transparent transfer tape to help line up your design with the base layer and hold it there while it’s in the press.
What you’ll need to get started.
If you’re an Aussie like myself, you can get everything you will ever need to get started in making your own decals at:
Heres a list of materials you’ll need to make these decals :
- I use a Sillhouette Cameo 4 to cut my materials
- Metamark M7 Vinyl – Black Matte
- SISER® Heat Transfer Vinyl – Holographic Spectrum ( this is my absolute favourite product, if I could wear this as a skin, I would be in holo heaven ).
- UltraKraft Transfer Tape – Standard Tack Grided Clear with Paper Backing (this is to help you transfer the holo design symmetrically onto the base layer) Want to see a different style of holographic stickers?
